Synopsis

A man and a woman drive straight towards one another. They hit the breaks just in time and come to a standstill, facing each other. They're both too stubborn to give way to the other. A life story begins.

Director's BIO

Sjaak Rood (Obdam, 1962) makes drawings all his life. He can't help inventing stories, likes theatre and silly music, and has a thing for technical stuff, especially when it is related to theatre, music or computers. In animation all these things come together.
His animation career started in the theater, making interactive animations for plays and dance performances.
Sjaak was Artist in Residence at the Netherlands Institute for Animation Film in Tilburg from 2009 - 2011. In this period he made the animated shorts Fast Forward Little Red Riding Hood (2010), The Line (2011) and COFFEE (2012).
His latest film At first sight was released in october 2018 at the KLIK Amsterdam Animation Festival.
Also in 2018 The Origin Of Sound by Paul Driessen was released, for which Sjaak animated two short scenes.
Sjaak also works as an ilustrator.
COFFEE has won several prizes amongst which: Best short film at the Chilemonos festival in Chili, and Best 2D animation at NAFF in Bosnia & Herzegovina.
De Lijn won Best Film in the competition "De Lijn" by the Centraal Museum, Utrecht in 2011. The film also got an Honorable Mention at Monstra festival in Lissabon in 2012 in the category experimental films.
